Easter fun for kids in Stanislaus County has been gone for almost two years due to COVID 19. when COVID hit in January of 2020, everything for children was taken away. Children were not allowed to go to school; children were not allowed to go to parks, and children were not allowed to go to birthday parties. They had all their rights as children taken away. Easter has been one of the most fun things kids had to look forward to. Now the Easter Bunny has gone away due to COVID as well. This year Stanislaus County Parks and the Stanislaus County Sheriff hosted the Easter egg hunt at Modesto reservoir on Saturday, April 9th. There were 11,000 eggs out there for the kids to hunt. There were games, activities, food, face painting, fire trucks, police vehicles, princesses, and the easter bunny. This year's Easter egg hunt was enjoyable for children who have been locked in their houses for almost two years now.
There was one downside to the event, and that was the weather. It was 77 degrees, with winds gusting up to 50 miles an hour. They did have the actual egg hunt sort of blocked off, and fewer you had children in their hunting due to COVID reasons. Children were running around with candy and baskets the whole time. They also made parking hassle-free due to the lack of parking spaces close to the entrance. They had a little train transportation to get you back and forth to your vehicle. It can be very overwhelming when you have small children to carry strollers and bags, so having the train to transport was very convenient for some of these parents. Stanislaus County Sheriff Marilyn Cardoza stated, “this year's turnout was greater than expected, and it made my heart happy to see smiles on all the children’s faces, and I'm glad I got to take a picture with the Easter Bunny.”
